Snake Habitat

December 22, 2008

These guys seem to be everywhere as they have been considered to be the perfect e.gs of the theory of Darwin called the Evolution. These were even before us and used to live from the times of dinosaurs and other deadly animals and giants, such as the mammoth.

These gigantic animals could not survive but still the snakes did. But what make them these excellent survivors? I am sure this would be the first question on your minds? But here’s the answer to it.

Snakes have the immense capability to adapt themselves wherever they go and whatever they are in. these guys are not only found in our courtyards and garages but also in those areas where even man could not even think of. Ya, that’s right and you heard it correct, they live in deserts, seas and oceans, as well as tress and forests. Name any place and I am sure you would definitely find them, for there is not a place where you would not find them.

The desert snakes are those highly toxic snakes that live in those cruel human conditions and that too without much fuss and hesitance. Trust me they are so used to the heat and the dry climate that they must have never even tasted water for their entire life span. And this is the fact, until and unless it may rain, they don’t have any water intake. For they get all the moisture and water from their prey that they hunt on. Now this was about the desert snakes.

As said before they also live in deep seas and oceans, there have been many finding and experiments that indicates that the snakes that live in waters are extremely deadly. They seem to be even deadlier that their counter parts that live on lands.

The venom of the sea snake is more toxic than that of the most toxic snake on earth, i.e. that king cobra. The ratio can be 19:1 and this means that the venom of the sea snake can be 19 times more toxic to the venom of the king cobra.

There are snakes that live on the trees and even they are very deadly, they are excellent tree climbers.  There are some that are very similar to the color of the leaf and the green mamba is one e.g. of that, while there are some that are the color of the bark of the tree. These usually live and prey on the birds and its young ones.
